Pottery Class We'll begin by learning some of the important things to know about different types of clay, clay tools and equipment. Then we'll jump right in and start making pots. Wear something comfortable... First, we'll learn "pinch pots," simple forms that can stand on their own or become building blocks in much more elegant pieces. Next, we'll try "coil building" -- an ancient technique used by many native peoples for constructing large and small utilitarian vessels. Finally, we'll examine a process called "slab construction" and learn how to use its techniques to our own advantage. As
your instructor my goal is to give you a glimpse into the incredibly exciting
world of the potter. I want you to experience, first hand, the magic of
your own creativity and begin to understand what ceramic art is really
all about. Class size is limited, so call 706-923-1655 and register
soon. I hope to see you there... Questions? E-mail the instructor, Fred Parker: fhparker@yahoo.com or, for answers to FAQ's click here. AFTER YOU REGISTER... CLICK HERE for instructions re what to bring to the first class. |
